As a third generation hotelier, Jon Handlery has infused his family’s tradition of commitment to hotel excellence with a personal and independent style that has energized our industry and our community for over twenty years.
Jon grew up in the hotel industry and worked his way up to his current position as the Senior Vice President and General Manager of the Handlery Union Square Hotel. He has held positions in numerous departments, including housekeeping, front desk and reservations. Throughout the years, his philosophy of in-person communication is a key component in Jon’s ability to effect change in his family’s hotel operations, our industry, and our community. From coordinating the original $10 million expansion project that combined the Hotel Stewart and the Handlery Motor Inn into the current Handlery Union Square Hotel property to serving as an Executive Committee Member and Past President of the Hotel Council of San Francisco, Past President of the Union Square Association, Past Chairman and Executive Committee Member of the San Francisco Convention and Visitors Bureau to serving as a Commissioner on the State of California Travel and Tourism Board, Jon’s unselfish dedication to the San Francisco hotel and tourism industry is pervasive.
Jon received his undergraduate degree at Cornell University from the School of Hotel Administration and is a current member of the Cornell Society of Hotelmen.
